Winder Main Data and Application:
Armature winder for tang commutator is common and normal because slot commutator has a hook on each
segment which catches the magnet wire in the winding machine.It's easy to achieve flyer winding.
Convential commutator requires insertion of magnet wires into the commutator slots which is a manual
operation completed after the armature wires have already been wound.
Because of the high labor rates associated with the conventional commutator,
the final motor cost is often times much higher than motors manufactured with tang comms.
Why Slot type convential commutator are still widely used in armature such as vacuum cleaners,
hammers power tool in which the commutator is without hook tang and have a special way for
pressing and hooking the copper wire to commutator wire slot area?
1. Because conventional comms they are typically considered a better design choice for applications
that have high vibrations and/or RPM, also conventional commutator save the copper hook in material,
2. The motor manufacturers can reduce raw material cost if use conventioanl comm and hook commutator
with the similar dimenson, the only difference is the amature with or without tang.
