BLDC Typical Applications
BLDC motor has a wide range of applications, such as automotive, tools, industrial industrial control,
automation, and aerospace. In general, BLDC can be divided into the following three main purposes:
Continuous load application, Variable load application, Positioning application
1. Continuous Load Application
This kind of application is mainly used in those fields that require a certain rotational speed but have low
requirements on the accuracy of rotational speed, such as applications such as fans, pumping machines,
and blower gas. Usually this type of application is relatively low cost and is mostly open-loop control.
2. Variable Load Application
This category mainly refers to applications where the motor speed needs to change within a certain
range. In such applications, there are higher requirements on the high speed characteristics and dynamic
response characteristics of the motor. Household washing machines, dryers and compressors are good
examples. In the automotive industry, oil pump control, electrical controllers, engine controls and
electronic tools are also good examples. There are also many applications in aviation, such as
centrifuges, pumps, robotic arms, gyroscopes, and so on. In this area, motor feedback devices are often
used to form semi-open loops and closed loops for control. This requires complex control algorithms,
increasing the complexity of the controller also increases the system cost.
3. Positioning Application
Most industrial control and automation applications fall into this category. In these applications energy
delivery, such as gears or conveyor belts, is often performed, so the system has special requirements on
the dynamic response and torque of the motor speed, and these applications may also need to change
the direction of the motor at any time. The motor may work in Constant speed, acceleration, reduction
phases, and possibly changes in load during these phases, so this places higher demands on the
controller. Usually this type of control uses closed-loop control, even with torque, speed, and position
loops. Three control loops. The photoelectric encoder and some synchronization equipment may be used
for speed measurement. Sometimes these sensors are used to measure the relative position and
sometimes to measure the absolute position. Many of these process controls, mechanical controls, and
transportation controls fall into this category.
In general, brushless motors have high speed/torque ratios, good dynamic characteristics, high efficiency,
long life, low noise, wide speed range, and ease of manufacturing compared to conventional brushed
